
Vernon Lee Wells departed this life on July 15, 2015 after a brief stay at IU Methodist Hospital. He was 79 years old.
He accepted JESUS CHRIST as his LORD and SAVIOUR at a young age. He was a devoted member of 25th Street Baptist Church and loved serving and helping out in any position. He attended Crispus Attucks High School. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, he was honorably discharged from service. He worked many jobs, including employment at Chevrolet, Dow Chemical/Seragen, retiring from Service Supply. He continued to work as a Security Officer for Securatex and Allied Barton Security Company. He loved people, hunting, fishing and having a good time. He had many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Wells, Sr. and Virgie Mary Wells, brothers, George, James, Frank Jr., Wesley, Robert and Elijah and three sisters, Ada, Nellie Pearl and Rebecca.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Barbara, daughters, Loyetta Oatis, (Moses), Sharon Levels, Tonya Harrington and son Vernon Lee Wells, Jr., four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, brothers, Thomas Bradley, Jr., Willie L. Wells and Roy C. Wells, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
